  • Rubus idaeus (Raspberry leaf).
  • Urtica dioica (Nettle leaf).
  • Medicago sativa (Alfalfa).
  • Taraxacum officinalis (Dandelion leaf).
  • Zingiber officinale (Ginger).

Herb Profile

Raspberry Leaf is used during pregnancy to strengthen and tone the uterus in preparation for birth.

It contains a phytochemical (a plant compound) called fragarine that has been shown to tighten and tone the muscles in the pelvic area. It is rich in B vitamins, vitamin C, and a number of minerals, including magnesium, potassium zinc, phosphorus, and iron.

Studies have also shown that women who regularly drink raspberry leaf tea during the second and third trimester tend to have reduced intervention and complications during childbirth.

Nettle Leaf is a very nutritious herb. It contains water-soluble iron, magnesium, and calcium. 

Alfalfa is another nutritious herb. Alfalfa is a great source of many minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium, and a great source of vitamin K.
Many midwives advise taking alfalfa during the last trimester of pregnancy as it can decrease post partum bleeding and haemorrhaging.

Dandelion Leaf is used for helping to increase digestion and support our kidneys by decreasing fluid retention.
It is also great for regulating blood sugar and contains many nutrients such as beta carotene, vitamin C, potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and phosphorus.
